The Rodeo!
It's finally here! Absolutely stoked to be finally sharing this with you all. This week, I breakdown the inspiration behind the collection and the individual pieces themselves. Hope you enjoy!
Housekeeping
First and foremost, the clothes are out! This drop consists of a cropped baby tee, a raglan crewneck, and a 6 panel snapback trucker hat. The clothes are available now on our website and I would really appreciate the support!
Second, The Secretaries Rodeo is Wednesday! Come on through and enjoy some dance music in a country bar- the perfect combination. Plus, there may or may not be a prize for whoever can stay on the bull the longest! Tickets are available here
Why The Rodeo?
Well, I have always been a fan of cowboy aesthetics, especially in film. There’s just something so boss about cowboys and rodeos. I have been wearing a lot of cowboy boots recently as well, and so it just felt natural to create a collection involving some Western themes. When conceiving a collection, I often look to film for inspiration and recently came across the movie Urban Cowboy starring John Travolta and Debra Winger. The movie is definitely dated and a bit corny, but its also a pretty fun movie and the story behind it is great. It is set in a country bar called Gilly’s which is a real bar and was a historic Western honky-tonk that could fit 6000+ people. The real kicker was the mechanical bull that they had at the bar, and this was the muse for the film Urban Cowboy and would become the inspiration for this entire drop. Here is some more background info for anyone wondering! Fun fact, Andy Warhol spent some time at Gilly’s in its heyday!

In Depth On The Drop
I wanted to keep it simple and manageable, so 3 items is what made sense. Of course, everything is completely cut and sew and designed by yours truly. 2 of the 3 graphics were designed by myself (the hat and the baby tee) and the crewneck graphic was designed by Nick Collini. The samples came in and I was hyped, definitely the proudest I have ever been of a drop.
The baby tee was originally 100% cotton, but it wasn’t stretchy enough so the final version is 94% cotton 6% polyester so that it hugs the body but doesn’t restrict airflow (kind of important). Below is the original reference graphic and the many iterations the graphic went through. In the end, decided to keep it relatively simple and am really excited about this product!
The hat fits great and is something a bit different than the classic mesh trucker hat thats so oversaturated these days. The final version is slightly different and says “I Survived The Bull” rather than “I Rode The Bull”. I think it just sounds better and raises the stakes lol.
Finally, the crewneck brings it all together and is the perfect spring day/summer evening sweater. It’s a super comfy fleece material with an embroidered logo on the sleeve that might have to become a staple on all future fleece products. It’s also a cropped fit, and the bottom doesn’t grab too much and sits just right.
Originally, this was going to be green but at the last minute changed it to red and couldn’t have been happier with the result. Worked with the homie Nick Collini on this one and the original reference can be seen below!
I seem to be nearing my length limit here, so I suppose a breakdown of the campaign will have to wait for next week!
Thanks for supporting and let me know what you guys think about everything!
